Can the Seattle Seahawks repeat their Super Bowl performance and become the first time in more than 10 years to win back-to-back trophies? Forbes says no, Sporting News says hell yes, and a whole lot of people fall somewhere in the middle. When it comes to money and business, we’ll always put our money on Forbes, but sports? Come on! Seattle Seahawks Home Games
You’d best believe that Seattle Seahawks tickets for home games are going to be hard to find. That’s pretty much a given with any Super Bowl champion team in their next year. Add to that the fact that the Seahawks boast one of the most fanatic and fantastic of all fan bases, and you can see the problem. In fact, single game tickets for the Seattle Seahawks went on sale July 21 and have been sold out for weeks. If you want to be part of a Seahawks repeat season, you’ve only got a few options. Will the Seahawks Repeat?
Only time will tell, but that doesn’t stop everyone and his sister from weighing in with their opinions. Over at Forbes, a professor of business law points out that no team has done it in the past 10 years, and only three have done it in the past 25 – the New England Patriots, the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. In approved business law fashion, he talks about football as a profit making venture and notes that changing NFL rules – and money realities – prevent football teams from acquiring teams made up of superstars. In other words, today’s teams are pretty evenly matched, so don’t expect the Seahawks to make it back to the Super Bowl this year.
The Sporting News guy, on the other hand, does what he does best: team analysis. The last team that pulled this off, he points out, was the 2003-2004 New England Patriots – and their lineup looks an awful lot like the current Seahawks roster. He mentions business stuff too – the salary cap and free agency and whatnot – but he points out that it doesn’t faze Seattle this year because they’ve already built a championship caliber team, and no other team is looking quite as good.
