Marlins Out of Playoffs But Still Worth Watching

The news for Miami Marlins fans is not all bad. Granted, their Saturday night loss to the Nationals mathematically eliminated the Miami MLB team from playoff contention – but it was darned close. Up until the 7th inning, it really looked like the team was going to pull off its sixth win over Washington this season, and just the fact that the Marlins were within a hair of securing a wild card slot this year says a lot about how far they’ve come in just one season. With the tension off, the remaining Marlins games are going to be pure fun, starting with today’s bobblehead giveaway and following up with the Marlins’ last home series against the Phillies. Did you say tickets? Of course we have Miami Marlins tickets for all their upcoming games. In fact, this is a great time to score great seats and take the whole fam out to the ballpark for the afternoon.

Playing Hard Until the Season Ends

Just in case you think the elimination means you’ll be seeing substandard play on the field, manager Mike Redmond has a message for you. His mission is to play hard until the season ends. “I’m going to try to get everyone in there as much as I possibly can,” he told reporters. “There are a lot of guys who haven’t played that much, and who are great and deserving of some at-bats.”

And for a team that’s not going to the playoffs this year, they’ve got a lot of optimistic support from people in the know. The sportswriters are talking about how improved the team is since last year and citing the Marlins’ “tremendous spirit,” which has helped them battle back from injuries and loss to stay in contention for a playoff berth up until the last week of the season, and the team’s camaraderie, something that’s carefully cultivated by team management.

Gearing Up for Next Year

And all of that leads up to what’s up for the Miami Marlins in 2015. The general view at this point is that the Marlins are a team on the move. Management has pulled in some top rookies and veterans to bolster the roster, and they’ve already started putting some thought into firming up next year’s roster. With the background support, incoming talent and the subtle meld of veterans and newcomers into a world-class team, the Miami Marlins are definitely a team to watch going into 2015.
